Yankees vs. Indians prediction: Gerrit Cole, Shane Bieber means pick Under

2

The first-ever 16 team MLB playoff will feature in its first night two of the league’s best pitchers when the Cleveland Indians host the New York Yankees.

Shane Bieber of the Indians led the majors during the regular season in strikeouts, ERA, wins, and quality starts. He gave up three runs or fewer coupled with at least eight strikeouts in all 12 of his starts.

Gerrit Cole will get the ball for the Yankees and enters the postseason pitching the best he has all year. He was hurt by giving up 14 home runs in 12 starts, but allowed just one homer along with just two runs across 21 innings in his past three starts.

The Indians all year have done a terrific job of supporting their starters out of the bullpen, ranking fifth in MLB in bullpen ERA. And while the Yankees are 15th in bullpen ERA for the season, they now have Aroldis Chapman and Zack Britton healthy and ready to go.

With the Indians having played 10 of Bieber’s 12 starts to the Under, this figures to be another low-scoring game with the stakes being heightened in this best-of-three series.

The Play: Yankees-Indians total, Under 6.5 runs.
